On 21 May 2026, students of the Transport programme visited the Lidl Distribution Centre to learn about the organization and functioning of modern logistics and distribution centres, as well as to gain insight into careers in the logistics, transport and retail sectors.

During the study visit, students learned about the history and development of Lidl, the scale of its operations in Poland, its employment structure, and its network of stores and distribution centres. The company representatives also presented Lidl’s values, work standards, and the principles of functioning of a large international retail chain.

An important part of the visit was the discussion of warehouse operations, departmental structure, and key sales, logistics, and distribution processes. Students also learned about selected job positions within the distribution centre, the onboarding process for new employees, as well as employee benefits and opportunities for professional growth within the company.

Students also took part in a quiz on Lidl’s operations, with small prizes awarded to participants. Next, students were introduced to the company’s safety systems, emergency and fire procedures, as well as the company’s environmental initiatives, including the use of renewable energy sources.

The visit concluded with a tour of the warehouse facilities and the main logistics areas of the distribution centre. Participation in the visit allowed students to better understand the practical aspects of how a modern retail and logistics company operates, as well as the relationships between warehousing, distribution, and transport processes.

The visit helped students to broaden their knowledge of warehouse operations, operational logistics, distribution, occupational safety and organizational culture. It also gave them a better understanding of career opportunities in the transport and logistics sector.
