Project DIGILOG (Enhancing curricula at Rwandan Universities by adding courses about Digitalisation of Logistics Systems) aims to support the modernisation of logistics education in Rwanda by strengthening academic capacity in the field of digitalisation and Industry 4.0. The initiative responds to the growing demand for digital and technological competencies required in modern logistics and rapidly developing economic sectors.

Rwanda has made significant progress in sustainable development, innovation, and economic growth, increasing the demand for highly qualified professionals equipped with modern logistics and digital skills. In response to these needs, the project brings together higher education institutions and stakeholders from Europe and Rwanda to modernise logistics education through the integration of digital technologies, smart logistics solutions, and innovative teaching approaches into existing study programmes.

The project aims to improve the relevance and quality of logistics education in Rwanda by updating curricula, enhancing the competencies of academic staff and students, and better aligning study programmes with labour market needs in the logistics sector.

To achieve its objectives, the project will first carry out a labour market analysis to identify key skills gaps in the logistics sector. Based on the findings, existing curricula will be updated and new teaching content, materials, and learning resources will be developed. The project will also strengthen the practical component of education through specialised laboratories and support academic staff through training and knowledge-sharing activities to improve teaching delivery.

The programme and project activities are carried out by an international consortium of four universities:

  • The International University of Logistics and Transport in Wrocław (IULT) – Poland Project Coordinator
  • University of Žilina (UNIZA) – Slovakia
  • Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) – Rwanda
  • East African University Rwanda (EAUR) – Rwanda

The project will support the modernisation of logistics education in Rwanda by aligning study programmes with labour market needs. Partner universities will introduce updated curricula and modern teaching approaches, complemented by specialised laboratories that will improve the quality of practical education. In the long term, the project will enhance graduates’ skills and employability, and support the development of a workforce capable of responding to the challenges of digital transformation, contributing to the economic development of Rwanda and the wider region.
