STUDY VISIT TO CHOMAR SP. Z O.O.

On 09 May 2024, English-speaking students visited the company CHOMAR Sp. z o.o..

The trip took place within the framework of the Welcome Centre project as a place of assistance, adaptation and integration for international students and lecturers.

Chomar is a transport and warehousing company with 28 years of experience that serves, among others: the automotive, FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) and white goods industries.

The students were able to learn about the specifics of working in a haulage company in the various departments. They also visited an authorised service centre for commercial vehicles: Wielton, Keassbohrer, Koegel, Krone, Sommer and Fliegl, where they were introduced to the ways in which vehicles are prepared for transport, e.g. shown the process by which a semi-trailer is loaded. The students also learned about the costs associated with maintaining a fleet in a large transport company.

Another highlight of the meeting was a tour of Chomar's warehouse.  The students saw what the warehouse looked like and looked at the modern machines that are used to line the goods.

The final point of the trip was a visit to the forwarding office and planning department, where they discussed what the various departments do and what the job of a forwarding agent is like and the journey it takes to work in such a position.
