STUDY VISIT TO CHOMAR SP. Z O.O. INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT

On April 19, 2023, a study trip to Chomar Sp. z o. o. International Transport in Kąty Wrocławskie was organised for the IULT students. The trip took place as part of the project Qualified Personnel for the Automotive Industry in Lower Silesia.

Chomar is a transport and warehouse company with 27 years of experience, which serves, among others, the automotive, FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) and household appliances industries.

Students could learn about the specificity of working in a forwarding company in individual departments such as HR or accounting. They also visited the authorized service of commercial vehicles: Wielton, Keassbohrer, Koegel, Krone, Sommer and Fliegl, where they learned about the methods of preparing vehicles for transport, e.g. the process of loading a semi-trailer was shown. Students also learned about the costs associated with maintaining a fleet in a large transport company.

The next point of the meeting was visiting the Chomar warehouse. Students saw what a warehouse looks like and observed modern machines that are used to line goods.

The last point of the trip was a visit to the forwarding office and the planning department, where they discussed what the individual departments do and what the work of a forwarder looks like and what career path you need to reach such a position.
